mavens of mayhem
Mavens of Mayhem was born from a simple idea: horror deserves more women at the helm, and women in horror deserve the recognition, resources, and respect they’ve earned. We’re here for the creators, the dreamers, and the rebels—the ones telling bold, unapologetic stories that redefine the genre.
“We wanted to subvert the classic horror model of women being terrorized. I want to write roles that service women. I want to tell stories from a female perspective.”
— diablo cody, Jennifer's body
"I couldn't think of a better twist than for horror films to become a strong feminist expression."
— coralie fargeat, the substance
Fade in: A woman steps into the dark—and makes it hers.
I’ve spent twenty years behind the scenes—and now I’m focused on putting women at the center of the story.
I grew up on late‑night creature features and my dad’s dramatic retellings of Dracula and Frankenstein. While my friends chased happily‑ever‑after, I was busy memorizing plot twists and falling for the beautiful logic of the macabre. Horror wasn’t a phase; it was the soundtrack to my imagination.
Make it yours.
Then make it impossible to ignore.”
When adulthood tried to nudge me into polite conformity, I built my own lane instead. I turned a knack for orchestrating spectacle into a two‑decade career producing award-winning television, festival‑lauded films, and global events—projects that made critics clap and audiences gasp. Quiet cubicles were never an option; I preferred sets crackling with possibility and rooms that needed more electricity than caution tape.
But the louder my résumé got, the clearer a truth became: women’s voices still drop to a whisper in too many production meetings and pitch sessions. So I founded Mavens of Mayhem—a platform where women who create (and celebrate) horror can find community, spotlight, and the resources to make their stories impossible to ignore.
Today, Mavens is a creative force—for the women who write at midnight, binge creature features, haunt every film festival lineup, or just crave stories that speak their language. It’s a space for those who see horror not as an escape, but as a reflection—sharp, smart, and unapologetically bold. This genre belongs to the women who bleed, scream, and sell out theaters—and we brought receipts.
We are the movement, the moment, and the future of fear. Let’s raise some hell.
